Local PP, PE market extended the weakening trend in Indonesia
Surprisingly, converters in the packaging sector started seeing an improvement in finished goods demand, particularly for LLDPE rolls, which contributed to the post-holiday restocking
The domestic PP and PE market in Indonesia remains on the downward trajectory for the third consecutive week this week – a sign that the persistently sluggish demand condition is weighing heavily on suppliers.

Surprisingly, converters in the packaging sector started seeing an improvement in finished goods demand, particularly for LLDPE rolls, which contributed to the post-holiday restocking and the reasonable raw material costs for LLDPE film at the moment. It is expected that the demand from the agricultural sector might also pick up amid the heatwave that has been raging across Asia.
“Nevertheless, we are not planning to stock up more than one week’s worth of supply to avoid potential price risks. The uptick might not sustain considering the heightening global economic challenges,” added, an HDPE bag maker.
Meanwhile, sharp reductions in homo-PP prices are very much expected. The constantly falling import offers coupled with the aggressive pricing in the distribution market put tremendous pressure on local producers.
