Taiwan's OPTC shuts PTA unit for maintenance

According to market sources, Oriental Petrochemical (Taiwan) Co Ltd (OPTC) has started its scheduled turnaround for No. 1 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant on 3 February 2016.

Located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, the unit is able to produce 400,000 ton/year of PTA. It is expected to remain off-stream for a month.

In Taoyuan, OPTC has another No. 2 and No. 3 PTA unit with a capacity of 500,000 ton/year and 1.52 million ton/year respectively which make OPTC to be the biggest PTA producer in Taiwan with a total production capacity of 2.42 million ton/year. It is also one of the six PTA producers who participate in the negotiation of monthly paraxylene (PX) Asia Contract Price (ACP).
