According to market sources, Vietnam's Hyosung Vina Chemicals is undergoing a major overhaul at its petrochemical complex in Southern Vietnam.

Hyosung Vina's 600,000 tons/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit has been offline since early April 2024 for scheduled maintenance lasting approximately 30 – 40 days. Concurrently, both downstream PP lines, each with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons/year, will undergo progressive shutdowns. PP line no. 1 will be offline for 20 days starting on 04 April, followed by PP line no. 2 on 15 April.

A market source commented, “Given the longer duration of the PDH unit's maintenance compared to the PP plants, we anticipated Hyosung Vina will utilise its remaining propylene inventories to sustain PP production until the cracker resumes full operation.”
