China launches anti-dumping probe on POM imports from Japan, Taiwan, European Union, and US
The investigation, slated for completion within a year with a potential six-month extension, underscores China's commitment to maintaining fair trade practices.
China's Ministry of Commerce has initiated an anti-dumping investigation targeting POM copolymers, a type of engineering plastic imported from major regions including Japan, Taiwan, the European Union, and the United States.
In a statement, the ministry emphasised the versatility of these plastics, which are capable of partially replacing metals such as copper and zinc, finding applications in various sectors like automotive, electronics, and medical equipment.
The investigation, slated for completion within a year with a potential six-month extension, underscores China's commitment to maintaining fair trade practices. The European Commission, responsible for EU trade policy, has announced a careful review of the investigation's details before deciding on any subsequent actions.
This move by China occurred against the backdrop of escalating trade tensions with the US and Europe.
