Official data: China’s factory activities remained in contractionary territory in June
The official Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) remained at 49.5 points in June, unchanged from the previous month. A PMI score below 50 indicates a contraction in the sector.
China's manufacturing sector contracted for the second consecutive month in June, on the back of declining export momentum and insufficient local orders to support recovery, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The official Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) remained at 49.5 points in June, unchanged from the previous month. A PMI score below 50 indicates a contraction in the sector.
The sub-index measuring new orders fell to 49.5, while the new export order index remained steady at 48.3.
Additionally, the non-manufacturing index, which measures activity in the construction and service sectors, decreased from 51.1 in May to 50.5 in June.
