Singapore's Shell shuts naphtha cracker unexpectedly

According to market sources, Shell Singapore has been forced to take its naphtha fed cracker off stream today after encountered compressor trip. Sources added that the company is going to reduce its propylene and ethylene allocation to the domestic market immediately. 

Based in Pulau Bukom, Singapore, the cracker produces 960,000 tons/year of ethylene, 540,000 tons/year of propylene, 155,000 tons/year of butadiene and 780,000 tons/year of MEG. The restart schedule of the cracker remains unconfirmed.
