TekniPlex Healthcare has made a groundbreaking advancement by becoming the first healthcare solutions company to introduce bio-based PVC for medical applications. This innovative material matches the performance and composition of conventional PVC resins, providing a sustainable alternative for a variety of medical uses.

The bio-based, medical-grade PVC compounds are specifically engineered for diverse medical products, including tubing solutions such as IV therapy sets, drip chambers, and peristaltic pump tubing. These compounds are also suitable for films used in trays, pouches, and bags, as well as other components made from medical-grade plastics.

Certified under the internationally recognized ISCC PLUS system, TekniPlex's bio-based PVC compounds utilize resins and plasticizers produced from renewable resources and renewable energy. This certification highlights the significant environmental benefits of the product, which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional PVC resins and approximately 60% compared to traditional PVC plasticizers.

The bio-based PVC is manufactured at TekniPlex Healthcare's state-of-the-art facility in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
