Import LLDPE film to China gains ground

Chinese players returned from the long National Day holidays and find themselves in need to replenish material, yet strengthening energy market encourages sellers to hold firm stance on their cargoes. A major Thailand producer lifted LLDPE film offers by $20/ton to reach $1250/ton CFR China, LC AS term and managed to sell out available quantity on the same day. An agent commented, “Our principal supplier is very confident about the near term outlook given some unexpected shutdown at several crackers including Singapore’s Shell, Iran’s MEHR Petrochemical and India’s Haldia Petrochemical, which might support from the costs side. We think in addition to the healthy demand in local market, prices might sustain the stable to firm trend in days ahead.”
Another trader sold Saudi Arabia LLDPE film at $1200/ton CFR China, LC 90 days term informed, “We lifted our prices by $30/ton from Saturday due to healthy local demand. We are quite satisfied with the trading activities since the market resumed, yet we are not confident about the possibility of further price hike. We would continue to monitor market development before making decision.”
