According to market sources, Japan Polypropylene Corporation (JPP), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings, is planning to construct a new PP plant in 2019.

Based in Ichihara, Chiba Japan, the new plant will be able to produce 150,000 tons of PP per year, which will eventually replace the 2 older plants with the similar overall capacity, whereby the operations of both old plants will be suspended. According to a source closed to the company, some of the equipment from old units will be used in the new plant which expected to cut approximately 15% of the production costs (excluding labor expenses) compared to existing units.
