Vietnam’s Hyosung Vina Chemical to shut PP plants for maintenance in early 2025
This development comes amid a wave of planned shutdowns across Southeast Asia in early 2025. Other significant facilities set to go offline include Long Son Petrochemical and JG Summit Petrochemical.
Hyosung Vina Chemical plans to temporarily halt operations at its entire petrochemical complex in southern Vietnam for routine maintenance, market sources revealed. The shutdown is scheduled to commence in early February 2025 and is expected to last approximately 30 days.
The facility includes a 600,000 tons/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and two PP production lines, each with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons. The maintenance schedule has been advanced from its original timeline in April 2025, reportedly as part of a strategic move to align with the traditionally lower demand following the Lunar New Year holiday.
