Sources: Shintech stabilizes operations at new PVC plant in Louisiana, USA

Shintech, a subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical and the world’s largest producer of PVC, has announced the commencement of commercial production at its newly established PVC plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana, USA. The facility is expected to reach full operational capacity by the end of the month.

Shintech, a subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical and the world’s largest producer of PVC, has announced the commencement of commercial production at its newly established PVC plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana, USA. The facility is expected to reach full operational capacity by the end of the month.

The new production line, with an annual capacity of 380,000 tons, represents the second phase of a significant expansion project at the Plaquemine complex. After overcoming delays, the unit was successfully brought online in October 2024. With the completion of this phase, the Plaquemine facility now boasts three PVC production lines with a combined annual capacity of 1.305 million tons.

In addition to the Plaquemine complex, Shin-Etsu operates other large-scale PVC production facilities in the United States, including a plant in Freeport, Texas, with an annual capacity of 1.45 million tons, and another in Addis, Louisiana, with an annual capacity of 900,000 tons.
