The Shenhua Auction platform is approaching the end of its monthly sales with notably limited volumes of LLDPE available. Despite a marginal recovery in the Dalian Commodity Exchange, purchasing activity has been lacklustre, as a significant portion of market participants have exited ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The Shenhua Auction platform is approaching the end of its monthly sales with notably limited volumes of LLDPE available. Despite a marginal recovery in the Dalian Commodity Exchange, purchasing activity has been lacklustre, as a significant portion of market participants have exited ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. A buyer emphasised that the recent CNY60/ton increase in the auction price for LLDPE warrants close scrutiny in the post-holiday period to evaluate potential market implications and further price trends.
Background:
Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co, the largest coal-based polyolefins producer in China, operates through four subsidiaries: Shenhua Xinjiang Coal-based New Materials Project, Shenhua Yulin Energy Co. Ltd., Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co. Ltd., and Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group (Ningmei).
The company boasts an annual production capacity of 2.65 million tons of PP, 750,000 tons of HDPE/LLDPE, and 570,000 tons of LDPE.
