This has amazed many regional market players due to the fact that market has not seen such prices since crude oil plunged in 2014. Today, several traders have opened new offers for various LDPE film origins at the range of $1400-1420/ton CFR China, LC 0-90 days term with the main aim is to test buyer’s acceptance levels.

A trader in the country open new offers for Thailand’s LDPE film cargoes at $1400-1410/ton CFR China, TT in advance said, “Our customers are not responding so well, however, we remain optimistic about the near term outlook.”

Another trader offered Middle Eastern LDPE film at $1410-1420/ton with the same term informed, “Buyers are placing bid at $40-50/ton lower as this cargo is for November shipment, and yet have not make any decision at the moment. Supply is very tight and most cargoes arrival would only take place during late December to early January. Therefore, we prefer to monitor further movement before making the next move.”

Even international producers are watching buyer’s respond before announcing new official prices with optimistic outlook remain in place. A Southeast Asian maker said, “We have yet to open official prices for this week, however we think the current firming trend might sustain in the near to medium term. Buyers are actively negotiating for discounts, but demand is there and healthy.”

The overall LDPE film offers in the import market is reported at $1350-1420/ton, CFR China, LC 0-90days term.
