Indonesia extends anti-dumping investigation on homo-PP imports
The Indonesian authorities (KADI) have announced an extension of the ongoing anti-dumping investigation into homo-PP imports from Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam.
The Indonesian authorities (KADI) have announced an extension of the ongoing anti-dumping investigation into homo-PP imports from Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam.
The extension is attributed to the high volume of responses and submissions from interested parties, requiring additional review time. Under Article 9(2) of Government Regulation No. 34/2011 and Article 5.10 of the WTO Antidumping Agreement, the investigation period may be extended for up to six months, giving KADI more time to evaluate all data and claims before issuing a final determination.
The probe, originally initiated following a petition by PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical citing material injury to the domestic industry, now carries added uncertainty for regional suppliers and Indonesian buyers. Market participants noted that the extension could affect procurement strategies in the months ahead, particularly as Indonesia continues to rely on imports for roughly 60% of its homo-PP requirements.
One trader told CommoPlast that the extended timeline is “both relieving and unsettling,” providing additional space for clarification but prolonging uncertainty around potential duties. Another source highlighted that any eventual anti-dumping duties, along with their timing, could reshape trade flows and influence price competitiveness for imported homo-PP.
This development comes amid broader trade protection measures in Indonesia, with separate investigations ongoing for LLDPE and PP block copolymer imports.
