Malaysian major lifted LDPE film prices to Vietnam

Vietnamese players reported to have received fresh LDPE film offers from a major Malaysian producer for January shipment with $40/ton hike from last month, reaching $1370-1380/ton CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

Buyers are very reluctant with such hike considering slower demand in the near-by China market. However, the upcoming planned shutdown has taken away all the sales pressure from the producer. A source close to the supplier informed, “We are not having many cargoes on hand this month and market might face a slight tightness as our plant is off for maintenance.”

There is no deal reported at the time this report is published, and regular customers are planning their bids for the cargoes, however, several have voiced their intention to make smaller purchases.
