Media: Lotte Chemical to realise petchem complex expansion in Indonesia

According to media report, South Korea’s conglomerate – Lotte Chemical is planning to materialise it expansion project at the existing petrochemical complex in the Banten city, Indonesia by 2018.
The $4 billion project includes the construction of a naphtha cracker, which aims to produce 1 million tons/year of ethylene, 600,00 tons/year of propylene and 140,000 tons/year of butadiene. Besides, in the downstream plants, the company plan to add another PE unit with annual capacity of 600,000 tons/year. Initial investment also calls for a 400,000 tons/year PP line, however, this it not confirmed at the moment.
The project has been postponed several years due to unsettled land ownership and the issue appear to have been resolved. Lotte will open the tender for the plant’s construction later this year.
