China to add 1.85 million tons/year of PP by May 2016

According to market sources, China would have additional 1.85 million tons of PP capacity by May this year with the start up of five new plants as shown in the following table.

A trader commented, “These plants start up during the peak season for PP, hence the impact has been minimized. However, we see local supply for PP is sufficient and these new plant would put pressure on the market in the medium term.”
