PetroRabigh completed ethane cracker installation at Rabigh II

Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co (PetroRabigh) announced last Wednesday that it has completed the installation work for the ethane cracker expansion project at Rabigh Phase II. The cracker is now has annual capacity of 1.6 million ton/year from 1.3 million ton/year previously.   

Included in this expansion project, the company is constructing a new naphtha reformer/aromatic complex which process 2.7 million ton/year of naphtha, 1.3 million ton/year of paraxylene (PX), 424,000 ton/year of benzene. Besides, the complex also produces several other products including ethylene-vinyl acetate/low density polyethylene (EVA/LDPE), ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPR), thermo plastic olefin (TPO), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA), cumene, phenol/acetone, acetic acid and nylon-6.

All construction works at the Rabigh Phase II plant are expected to complete by September 2016, 9 months later than the original plan.
