Malaysia's PETRONAS to shut HD/LL swing plant for maintenance

Polyethylene Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PETRONAS) is planning to shut its HDPE/LLDPE swing plant in May 2016 for a scheduled turnaround, a source close to the company reported.

Based in Kerteh, Malaysia, the swing plant has a production capacity of 220,000 ton/year. It is expected to remain offline for about 2 weeks.

The source added, “Our principal informed that they are not able to allocate any HDPE and LLDPE for export in first half of the year and only a small quantity of LDPE is available. We expect the supply would only be able to catch a breath from June onwards.”
