Thailand's PTT to construct new cracker 

Thailand’s petrochemical giant PTT Global Chemical has come to final investment decision to build a new cracker at its Map Ta Phut complex, according to the company’s statement released in the previous week.

The cracker using mixed feedstocks of ethane gas and naphtha based on a ratio of 60:40 per cent. Samsung Engineering was awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the project. 

This brownfield investment worth approximate USD985 million and is expected to come online by 2020. Upon completion, PTT will have additional 500,000 tons/year of ethylene and 250,000 tons/year of propylene.
