Vietnam plans new PP plant, details to be unveiled

On 24 March 2018, Vietnam’s Phu My Plastics Production JSC (PMP) has signed a long-term contract with PetroVietnam Gas to supply propane gas for the new polypropylene projects in the country.
Phu My Plastics Production JSC (PMP) is the main and sole investor for the 300,000 tons per annum polypropylene (PP) projects, which would consume about 360,000 tons of propane gas per year. However, there are little details revealed regarding the technology, time frame and the construction of this new plant.
Phu My Plastics Production JSC (PMP) is a relatively new company in Vietnam. Incorporated in December 2016, the company is specialized in manufacturing biodegradable plastics and related end products such as bags (T-shirt bags, garbage bags, roll bags for food containing, etc.), disposable knives/ spoons/ forks, bottle caps.
Vietnamese players are monitoring closely the development of this project while many are pessimistic about the company’s ability to kick-start the construction anytime soon.
