Philippines PP plants to shut for maintenance in May

Market players reported that two producers in Philippines are planning to bring their PP plants off-stream for a scheduled maintenance work in the coming months.
JG Summit is mulling over a three weeks shutdown at their 190,000 t/year PP plants in May. The company reportedly oversold their April allocation and would only be able to allocate export cargoes in May.
Meanwhile, another producer in the country is Philippine Polypropylene Inc (an affiliate of Petron Corporation) planned a two weeks maintenance shutdown at their 225,000 tons/year PP plant in Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines end of April to beginning of May.
Players believed that these shutdown might keep local supply tight till end of May, however, buyers in the country is now resisting high price level which might put a cap on any potential price hike.
