South Korean Hyosung has kicked start the construction of the new petrochemical project in Vietnam after receiving the investment certificate from the local government on 29 August 2018.

The project shall be divided into two major phases. Phase 1 includes the construction of the underground LPG storage and a 300,000 tons/year PP line, costing approximate $469 millions. Phase 2 consists of building a PDH plant and number 2 PP line with a capacity of 300,000 tons/year, accounting for $722 millions. The complex is expected to come into commercial operation in 2020.

In a visit to potential customers in Vietnam, the company representatives said that the two PP lines with the combined capacity of 600,000 tons/year would produce both homo-PP and PP copolymer grades, and trial run cargoes would become available in local Vietnam market by end of 2019.
