The beer maker earlier this month announced that it would suspend all the use of the plastic ring wrapping used to secure multipack beers in an effort to reduce the impact on the environment.

The company would switch to use a special type of glue, called Snap Pack, to glue the beer cans together. Unlike the conventional glue, Snap Pack can be recycled with the aluminum can at once.

With the new type of packaging, Carlsberg hopes to reduce the plastics waste from its traditional packaging by up to 76 percent or 12,000 tons annually. The new packaging has been implemented in UK stores and would be rolled out to all Carlsberg markets by 2019.
