Fire hit Jubail's UPC plant

According to media reports, a fire broke out at United Petrochemical Company plant Saturday, 16 April 2016, killing 12 people and injured 11 others. At the time of the incidence, the plant was offline for maintenance work. 

Located in Saudi industrial city of Jubail, Jubail Petrochemical Company is a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), which hold 75% of share. 

The plant is producing 575,000 tons/year of ethylene glycol (EG), 400,000 tons/year of HDPE and 150,000 tons/year of linear alpha olefins (LAO).
