USA’s Formosa to achieve commercial production for PE in 2019

According to market sources, Formosa Plastics Corporation is planning to achieve stable commercial production for its new olefin cracker and PE plants starting second half of 2019.

Based in Texas, United States, the new startups include 1.25 million tons/year olefin cracker, a 400,000 tons/year LDPE plant and a 400,000 tons/year HDPE/LLDPE swing plant. Meanwhile, its 250,000 tons/year PP III plant will be started up by second half of 2020.

In addition, the company is expanding the production of its PVC plant located at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, whereby 136,000 tons/year of the capacity will be added upon expansion by Q4 of 2021.
