Market sources reported that India’s ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPAL), a joint venture of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (26%), GAIL (17%) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (5%), is planning to startup its new PP plant in 1-2 weeks time if the company is able to procure good price of propylene from the spot market in the near term.
Based in Dahej Special Economic Zone, Gujarat, India, the new 340,000 tons/year PP plant has been delayed due to higher project cost. In addition, the company is planning to bring on-stream its dual-feed cracker (1.1 million tons/year of ethylene, 400,000 tons/year of propylene, 150,000 tons/year of benzene extraction unit, 115,000 tons/year of butadiene unit) by early June, as well as its 340,000 tons/year HDPE plant and two 360,000 tons/year HDPE/LLDPE swing plant by end of June.
