It is reported that PT Asahimas Chemical is planning to take part of its PVC and VCM production in Anyer, Indonesia off-stream for a month starting mid of March for routine maintenance work. A source close to the producer informed that the shutdown would not affect the supply condition as the company has planned inventories in advance.

The affected units are No. 3 VCM line with a capacity of 400,000 tons/year and the No. 2 PVC line with a capacity of 250,000 tons/year. The other two PVC and VCM lines are not affected by the shutdown.

PT Asahimas Chemical during quarter 3 of 2018 announced the expansion plan at its PVC plant, which would add another 200,000 tons per annum to the current output. The expansion project is expected to come online during 2ndquarter of 2021. 

PT Asahimas Chemical is part of the Japanese AGC Group, which also operates PVC plants in Thailand and Vietnam.
