As expected, a major Taiwanese producer has announced June shipment offers for PVC to the Asian market with increases from last month, underlining the rebound trend after two consecutive months of reduction.

Latest price list sees $10/ton hike to India market to $870/ton and $30/ton hike to China and Southeast Asia, at $850/ton, all based on CIF/CFR. LC AS term. Export offers stand at $810-820/ton FOB Taiwan.

It appears that Indian buyers have accepted the hike and sales are rather smooth, sources said. “This is very much expected. Customers think prices have bottomed out; hence it is wise to make replenishment. However, sentiment might dim in June as the monsoon season takes place,” a local trader said.

Meanwhile, customers in Southeast Asia remains reluctant to accept the larger price increment than India. Many plan to wait for other producers to announce new prices before making decision.
