According to media reports, the Vietnamese government has discovered a number of trade frauds cases by Chinese companies in an attempt to avoid US tariffs. This includes Chinese goods being labeled as “Made in Vietnam” before certificates of origin are processed.

The country recently has busted dozens of fake product-origin certificates and illegal transfers for a range of products from agriculture to textiles and steel. Vietnam has pledged to increase penalties on trade related fraud for concerns that the country might face tariffs themselves.

For the first quarter of 2019, US imports from Vietnam surged 40.2%, making it one of the biggest winners from US and China trade war.
