According to China’s General Administration of Customs, the country’s total exports in August fell 1 percent month-on-month following a 3.3 percent growth in July.

The escalated trade war between China and the USA has resulted in a visibly slowed down in orders from USA customers. However, according to statistics, in August, China carried a trade surplus with the US of USD 26.95 billion.

On another related issue, China’s imports in August fell 5.6 percent from July, underlining the fact that total imports to China have only expanded one in eight months in 2019.

The slump in import figures points to the downturn in the manufacturing sector and analysts believed that Chinese authorities might continue to introduce new supports to stimulate the economy.
