Heard News: Blast struck petrochemical plant in UAE, one casualty

Market sources reported hearing about an explosion at Borouge’s petrochemical complex today, causing at least one fatality case. Players informed that the event took place at one of the boiler at the PP plant while PE plant remained unaffected.

Observers expect PP supply from Borouge to be affected but unsure about the duration. Borouge owns two PP plants in Ruwais, UAE with combined capacity of 1.76 million tons/year. It is unclear on at which plant the explosion occurred.
