The new offers reflect the current firming trend across the region thanks to the recent uptick in demand in China that helps suppliers deplete a good number of cargoes. Apparently, supply for LDPE is especially tight due to the on-going maintenance shutdown at one of Thailand’s plants and the healthy demand for EVA that encourages swing plants to focus on the better margin product.

“However, the latest price list for LDPE film is rather bizarre considering the sluggish demand condition in Indonesia. We do not expect strong buying interest this time,” a trader commented.

Several other buyers prefer to wait on the sideline for more offers from regional suppliers before making decisions.
