South Korea’s LG Chem shut cracker after fire

It is reported that a fire broke out at LG Chem’s plant in Yeosu, South Korea during the early hours of 5 November 2020 that forced the company to shut its naphtha cracker on the site. 

The fire started in the main control room, players said. 

The cracker has an annual capacity of 1.16 million tons/year of ethylene and 580,000 tons/year of propylene. The unit is expected to remain offline for 20 days.
