UPDATE: Dalian port to remain shut until the end of December

As reported earlier, the Chinese government ordered the closure of the Dalian port after a rise in the number of COVID-19 infections linked to a cold storage company here. In the latest announcement, the authorities said that the port would remain shut until 31 December 2020 for sanitization. 

Dalian has two ports. The new port focuses on containers and effectively closed. Meanwhile, tramper vessels unload cargoes at the old port, which is still operating at half of the usual capacity. 

Many exporters have to delay the shipments as a result of the port closure. In fact, Hengli Petrochemical Co Ltd is among companies that rely on Port of Dalian to export their cargoes to overseas customers. The producer inevitably delays some of the PP shipments until the port re-open, sources said.
