Import HDPE film to China sees greater buying attention

After an extended period of sluggish demand, the Chinese HDPE film market witness a visible pick up in purchasing activities these two weeks as converters prepare inventories before enter the peak season.
CommoPlast data shows import HDPE film to China has gained $10-35/ton from last week with a major Thailand producer announced fresh offers to China on Tuesday with $30/ton increased to reach $1150/ton CFR, LC AS term. A good number of deals for this cargo were reported at only $5/ton discount with a buyer said, “We were not able to obtain any Iranian cargoes these days as supplier claimed limited cargoes stemming from production issues. We also purchased some Taiwanese cargoes to maintain inventories levels.”
Besides making direct purchases, Chinese buyers are also searching for re-export cargoes from near-by Southeast Asian market. A Vietnamese trader reported, “Our customers in China are asking for HDPE film and LLDPE film cargoes as they complained about the lack of availability condition. This is very unusual to us, as normally China would have some extra quantity to re-export. We are now concern if there would be sufficient cargoes from international supplier to Vietnam in the near term in the wake of the stronger demand in China.”
