India’s Reliance partner with UAE’s Abu Dhabi Chem to construct new PVC plant

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has entered a joint venture with Abu Dhabi Chemical to build a chemical plant in Ruwais, UAE to produce Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).

The $2 billion projects named TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC would be the first to produce vinyl products in the UAE, and its output shall meet the growing demand in the local market here, as well and in Southeast Asia and Africa. 

Further details on the project are not immediately available while the companies said that the terms of the agreement are subjected to regulatory approval. 

In November 2021, Reliance broke off an investment agreement with Saudi Aramco in the oil-to-chemical business due to valuation differences.
