UAE’s Borouge started up the fifth PP plant

It is reported that Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Ltd (Borouge) has successfully started up its newly constructed No. 5 PP plant in Ruwais, UAE after a slight delay from the initial schedule. 

The fifth PP unit (PP5) is part of Borouge 3. The project kickstarted in 2018 and was scheduled to come online during the third quarter of 2021. 

With a capacity of 480,000 tons/year, the No. 5 PP unit will boost Borouge’s annual PP output to 2.21 million tons, making it one of the largest producers in the world. 

The total polyolefins production of Borouge has now reached approximately 5 million tons/year.
