Iran’s Arvand Petrochemical has announced a new project to erect the second polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant in Mahshahr, incorporated with relatively similar production capacity and technology as the existing 320,000 tons/year PVC plant from the Khuzestan region.

At the time of this report, no details regarding the completion of the project were announced but the company’s Managing Director Reza Karim said, “The addition of a new 300,000 tons/year PVC plant at Mahshahr is advancing smoothly and our predictions indicate that the plant will start production in about 2 years.”

Once fully operational, Arvand’s total PVC output will be boosted to 620,000 tons/year. The project would certainly improve the nation’s chances in the global market by raising export sales while at the same time, aiding the needs of local industries.
