Hyosung Vina Chemical has completed a major maintenance schedule at its petrochemical complex in Southern Vietnam and is currently in the process of ramping up operating rates, according to market sources.
The utilisation rate at the 600,00 tons/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit is currently at 80%, though the maker might increase the rate further in the near-term.
The No. 1 PP unit resumed operation on 30 April 2024 following a 20-day shutdown and has achieved a 90% operating rate at the time of this report.
The No. 2 PP line was restarted on 14 May and is in the process of ramping up run rates. Both of the PP lines have an annual capacity of 300,000 tons/year each.
The Vietnamese homo-PP market has been gaining traction this week following a surge in import offers for Chinese cargoes. Although the local demand remained mediocre amid comfortable supply conditions, it seems external factors have a stronger impact on the overall trading sentiment.
