Malaysia’s PrefChem to restart production in Q1 2021

Pengerang Refining and Petrochemical (PrefChem) in a media release said that the plant is scheduled to restart its production in Q1 2021 after an explosion forced the company to shut the entire complex since March 2020. 

The company said that the plant is “on-track in transitioning to commercial operations, with the focus on operational readiness to achieve safe, reliable and efficient operations.” 

PrefChem owns two PP lines at the Johor complex with a combined capacity of 900,000 tons/year, a 400,000 tons/year HDPE line, and a 350,000 tons/year LLDPE line. The naphtha cracker has an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons/year of ethylene and 600,000 tons/year of propylene.
