Pakistan’s Engro Polymer achieved commercial production at new PVC plant

Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited (EPCL) on 1 March 2021 announced that the company has successfully started up the newly constructed PVC plant in Port Qasim, near the coastal city of Karachi, and is currently commercially operating. 

Engro Polymer started constructing the new PVC plant in 2018, with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons/year. At the moment, the total PVC output from the producer has been boosted to 300,000 tons/year. 

Meanwhile, the debottlenecking work at the upstream VCM unit to add another 50,000 tons/year to the current capacity of 200,000 tons/year has yet to complete. The startup at the VCM plant is scheduled for the second quarter of the year.
