UAE PE flows poised to accelerate into Vietnam
Vietnam’s move to grant zero-duty access for UAE PE is rapidly redrawing regional trade flows just as domestic supply disruptions deepen import dependence. The tariff removal under the UAE–Vietnam CEPA aims to hand Emirati cargoes a structural cost advantage at a time when the shutdown of Long Son Petrochemicals has stripped away a major domestic supply buffer, tightening Vietnam’s reliance on imported resin amid ongoing Middle East volatility.

PET gains momentum in Indonesia as replacement supply slips further out
Indonesia’s PET bottle market extended its upward momentum this week as tight prompt availability and widening import uncertainty reinforced seller leverage. Domestic prices continued to firm amid delayed replacement cargoes and limited spot liquidity, while elevated freight and upstream volatility kept buyers cautious on forward commitments.
However, the rally is beginning to encounter resistance downstream. Converters remain adequately covered in the near term, and rising PET values are narrowing the cost advantage against competing packaging materials.
