Local PP fiber production in China continues to decline as yarn recovers

According to CommoPlast data, PP fiber production in the local China market fell drastically since late April 2020 as demand for this grade from the masks and medical protective equipment sector stabilized.

The total PP fiber output has been shredded by more than half from the peak on 20 April, to about 20.27% by the week ending 8 May 2020. It is important to note that the total PP output in China was at 2,003,300 tons in April.

In the meantime, it is believed that PP yarn supply in the local market would gradually recover from the previous tightness now that the production ratio for this grade has increased from 12.82% on 20 April to 26.23% on 8 May 2020.
