China’s trade improved significantly in September

Import and export activities in China improved significantly in the month of September 2020 according to the latest official data, indicating that the economic recovery progress continues to gather steam.

Imports grew 13.2% in September compared to the same period last year, primarily driven by the strong shipments of food items, including grains, meat, and soybean. 

Exports jumped 9.9% year-on-year in September, the strongest performance since March 2019, thanks to the sturdy sales in electrical and mechanical goods, shipments of which rose by 11.8% from a year earlier.
